Police Academy
Accepting discharge from the Air Force, my sons and I returned to the state of Oregon, where I worked for a while back at the fruit packing plant where I had started my life as a wage-earner before moving to the south coast for a while and ultimately to a small town near the mouth of the Columbia River where I took a job as a Security Sergeant with The Pinkerton Agency.
Before long, however, this offered very little challenge, and even less in pay, so after less than two years on the job I applied for, and was accepted for a position with the City, and soon found myself at the Oregon Police Academy undergoing "basic trainng" of another sort. Shortly thereafter I graduated with class No.37 of the Oregon Police Academy, First in my class, holder of the Lee F. Bown Award, and a certified Police Officer. A   new career had begun. My sons entered Junior High  School, we moved out of our small, three-room cottage and into larger quarters, and life was on track for all three of us.
Wedding
Things seem to have a way of changing and, as the boys (and I) grew older it seemed that there was something missing. It was during this period that I met the lady who, it seemed, was the answer to what had been missing - a woman's touch - and a few months later I again took the plunge. Yeah, it seems that some of us never really learn. Changes in our lifestyle were made to the better and lo and behold, less than a year later - the real change came along.
