As a medievalist, I am Lady Aodhnait
inghean mhic Charthaigh. I have reciently moved to the Barony of Starkhafn in
the Kingdom of Caid. A member of The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc.(SCA), for the past four years
I blatantly use every opportunity to share its virtues. The society is a non-profit
educational organization dedicated to researching and selectively recreating the
customs, combat and courtesies of the pre-17th century world. There are
Tournaments where martial arts of the Middle Ages are demonstrated; (To learn SCA infantry
fighting, you make armor, weapons, shields, etc., and put them on and go learn how it feels
to wear them when somebody is swinging a (rattan) sword at you.) Revels where medieval and
renaissance food, drink (To learn brewing, you make (and sample!) your own wines, cordials,
meads and beers.) and entertainment are sampled and competitions in the Arts and Sciences.
(To learn costuming, you design and build costumes.) If this interests you, check out the URL below. There are groups all over the world.
