Bushi Karate Do
Bushi Karate Do is a Martial Art Associated with the Bushi Karate Jitsu Association.
With a basis of teaching many of the traditional Karate techniques it incorporates:
KIHON (stances, striking, kicking and blocking),
Kata (formalised patterns of self defence),
Kumite (non contact sparring)
We also have a close association with Kempo Ju-jitsu: With high grades in our club proficient in instructing Ju-jitsu techniques. Receiving regular visits from a Black belt Kempo Ju-jitsu instructor from one of our sister clubs in the Bushi Karate Jitsu Association to further enhance the versatility of our style and gives our students an excellent understanding in all areas of self-defence.
We have recently co-affiliated with the Australian Karate Federation (TAS) to make ourselves available for students who wish to compete in tournaments on a club, state or national level.
We are very much a family orientated club providing children's classes where parents are welcome to participate along with their children and be involved in something together. It is our very strong belief that while self-defence is a serious matter we should have fun whilst training. Hence, our children's classes are designed so that basics are taught amongst games and relay races etc.
This has proven to be a very successful pattern of teaching with children consistently improving in self-confidence, self-respect, coordination, and most importantly staying happy young children.
Discipline and Respect go hand in hand with Karate and even though our students are encouraged to pursue these qualities by their instructors, it is done so with understanding, patience and a smile. Not intimidation or punishment!
We believe in the values that are taught by learning a Martial Art:
Truth - Kindness - Patience
We believe this so much that we have chosen to use this as our club motto as seen on our club badge.
In concluding, we would like to say that we are open to any age of student from 5yrs of age to any person who would like to learn a Martial art. We believe that Martial Arts should adapt to suit you and not the other way around. We can formulate training methods to suit anyone.
Remember that Martial Arts are a journey for a fuller life, so why not take the first step today?
