Supportive Housing Program

CONOVER HOUSE is a supportive housing program.  The program located in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, is a 36-unit dwelling that also houses low-income families and senior citizens in subsidized apartments.

Medical Corp.

The Food First Day Treatment Program is designed to create a medical environment conducive to wellness and healing, specializing in AIDS general medicine.

Pact Apartment & Support Services

This program serves people in need of housing, nutrition and supportive services. The staff is trained in social work, counseling, and health related fields.

The Family Project

The Family project is a program of Food First designed to provide families with an alternative to living in an abusive environment.  The Family Project also operates an emergency shelter.

International Development

In cooperation with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO'S), Food First provides goods and services throughout the developing world.
  • School development projects help non-governmental organizations, such as Strength and Justice Colonia in Mexico, build schools.
  • Domestic violence and AIDS prevention projects, in cooperation with the Human Dignity Program and Genesis, provide shelters in Guyana, Ghana and the United Kingdom.
  • Micro-credit loan program, including the Friends of the Earth Traditional Fishing Project, assist local communities.
  • Loan programs and small business assistance help families and communities throughout West Africa.

Food And Clothing Pantry

Food First provide this service to children, homeless, and senior adults at Bronx and Brooklyn facilities.

Child Care Services

Food First provides two child care centers in Brooklyn. Child Care center runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 PM.

Child And Adult Food Program

This service is open to children and adults at Bronx and Brooklyn, serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Vocational Education

This service is provided to adults to improve their skills to live independent. Training include cooking classes, typing, and computer skills.
  • Cooking classes, demonstration workshops and informative shopping trips with a dietician assist persons and families living with AIDS and Tuberculosis learn about proper nutrition.
  • Parenting skills classes train and educate parents.
  • Day care and preschool instruction is available at the Conover Preschool.

Advocacy and Supportive Counseling

 
  • Medical advocacy is provided for individuals living with AIDS who reside in apartments for individuals under treatment for tuberculosis.
  • Legal advocacy for individuals residing in emergency shelters for victims of domestic violence.
  • Financial advocacy helps families and individuals secure housing and stabilize their lives.

Food And Nutrition Program

This service is provided to adults on food, nutrition needs, calories consumption, and healthy living.
